For from his fullness we have all
received, grace upon grace
John 1:16
Imagine placing an empty bucket into the ocean. Not only will the bucket fill up with water, but it will be surrounded and covered by water. So it is with grace upon grace. God is omnipresent so we have it flowing within us and all around us. Grace is keeping and sustaining us through the highs and lows of life. In Christ, we have the fullness of God working in and through us, there is no lack or shortage. As children of God, we know that one of our goals is to abstain from sin, but even when we fail, it is not possible to “out sin” the power of grace (2 Cor. 12:9). Grace abounds to us in all things at all times (2 Cor. 9:8). Though our past cannot be changed, God is more interested in fulfilling His good purpose and the bright future He has in store for us. Be reminded that His grace has already covered all our sins, past, present and future, and He remembers them no more (2 Tim. 1:9; Hebrews 8:12). Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Prayer
Gracious Father, I come before you eternally grateful that you remember my sins no more because of the blood of your precious Son and our glorious Savior, Jesus (Hebrews 8:12). Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit in me that I might not sin against you (Psalm 51:9-10). On this side of heaven, I cannot fathom the depth of your love and grace toward me, but I humbly accept the power of grace at work in my life. Thank you that you do not abandon me to my own devices. Keep ever before me the knowledge that you have a marvelous plan for my life (Jeremiah 29:11).
In Jesus’ name, Amen
