This is the day that the Lord has made,
I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

God creates a different, beautiful sunrise for us every day, with an artistic brushstroke of His hand.  Birds, particularly songbirds, often begin their dawn chorus of intense singing right before sunrise.  They are anticipating a brand new day, even before we get a glimpse of the sun.  Many flowers open their blooms in the early morning, triggered by increasing temperature and light intensity as the sun rises, as if opening their hands to show praise to God.  God makes every day different, sustaining it, upholding the rhythm of the universe together, creating that day’s path for us.  As soon as we wake up, we should join all of His creation in rejoicing at the very essence of God, and the magnificent, eternal salvation that He has granted us in His Son (2 Thessalonians 3:5).  God beckons us to rejoice throughout the day (Philippians 4:4), because He knows that when we do, we will stay continually in communion with Him, and will reap the benefits of abiding in Him moment by moment (John 15:5).  He wants us to know the path he has set for us, and the light of His Word guides us each day (Psalm 119:105).  Spend time in prayer with Him every day as he directs you into specific answers to prayer.  By staying in a state of rejoicing in Him we are recognizing and showing honor to His beauty, splendor, and goodness to us.  Rejoice in the Lord!

Prayer

Dear Father, Creator of the heavens and the earth, we are your image-bearers and are called to praise and rejoice in your name and be thankful for who you are every day.  Your Word has said let everything that has breath praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6).  I am eternally grateful that you have created me and made me for your good purpose.  I praise and rejoice in your forgiveness, abundant supply, and goodness (Psalm 145). Let my heart sing and rejoice in the wonderful things you have done in my life, and are going to do in my future, both on this earth and forevermore!

In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen
