“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Psalm 16:11
In this new year, whether you are aware of it or not, you are following a path. Sometimes life paths are intentional and sometimes we feel we are just drifting along. Regardless of what is going on in our lives the path we follow has great significance. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ we are now and forevermore following the path of life. But when a trial creeps onto our path, we may be tempted to groan and fail to remember that the God who is holding the universe in place is fighting for us and preparing the path ahead of us. Capture your wandering thoughts and remember this truth; God created you and intended that this life of yours be full of abundance and blessing (2 Cor. 9:8). Allow the fruit of Joy to break through the monotony and difficulties. I encourage you to “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always” (Psalm 105:4). If you are feeling weak and feeble God himself will be your strength. Set aside some time with your Heavenly Father, free from distraction, and focus on the brilliance of God’s glorious light. He encourages you that he will fill you with joy simply because you are basking in his presence. We are seated in the splendor of the courts of the King of kings. As a child of God that is our reality!
PRAYER
My Joyous King! I come into your courtroom casting all of my cares at your throne. Thank you that you fill me with joy in your presence! Heal any area of my life that is causing me grief and manifest in me your spirit of Joy. Thank you that I am your child, and you graciously hold my hand as I walk through the path of this fleeting life. When I stumble, thank you that you are there to catch me (Psalm 37:23-24). Remind me that your grace is sufficient for me, and your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:11). Precious Father, impart your strength into my life, and allow me to be a beacon of light in this dark world, for you call me a child of light (1 Thessalonians 5:5).
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
